The physical condition of Sepideh Gholian – a student, social rights’ activists and journalist imprisoned in Bushehr Prison – has deteriorated due to contracting COVID-19.
Sepideh Gholian has had stomach bleeding and her condition is deteriorating and her life is now in danger. Although she was transferred to the prison’s quarantine area, Sepideh Gholian has had no medical treatment.
The prison authorities have refused to release her and her family’s repeated requests for a visit have been ignored.
Sepideh Gholian was arrested in November 18th 2018 while she was supporting and reporting on the strike of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane workers. Since her illegal detention Sepideh Gholian has been beaten and tortured inside the Iranian regime’s dungeons.
We call on all trade unionists and socialists to send solidarity messages in support of Sepideh Gholian and to demand her immediate and unconditional release.
