The rise of the far-right is definitely a worldwide phenomenon. Recent elections in Europe and America made that clear. The happy faces of Le Pen, Meloni etc. cannot hide the radical ideology against human rights and freedom. Those ideas led to the Second World War as well as to a series of dictatorships.
In times of multi-level crises and political emptiness, fascism comes up as there’s no competition. At the same time, governments, media and financial lobbies are working together to legalize it, bringing on the threat of terrorism and privilege loss.
However, we know that most people are against fascist ideas of hate and far-right practices. And those people are exactly who we want as partners in our campaign WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON. We will try to provide information and answers in all fields where far-right agenda is active: education, culture, sports, social media, environment, refugees, LGBTQ and women movement, history.
Our campaign has two levels: first we will address schools and universities with anti-fascist brochures and workshops so that the students themselves will be a part of it and spread the word. The second part of our campaign will begin with the big demonstration of the 21st of March Global Day Against Racism. Consequently, there will be AntifaCon 2025, a two days anti-fascist conference on March 22nd & 23rd at the Technopolis of Athens Municipality with workshops in the previous said fields and events in order to unite the anti-fascist movement and fight fascism together.
The Anti-fascist Coordination of Athens and Piraeus has been out on the streets for 11 years now. In 2020 with our campaign NOT INNOCENT -NAZIS IN PRISON we contributed to the imprisonment of the fascist party Golden Dawn as a criminal organisation. Today with the campaign WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON we aim to send fascists where they belong: in the margins of history.
