Re-posted from Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign
On March 15th, immediately after being released from Evin Prison, Sepideh Gholian shouted “Khamenei, you tyrant, we’ll bury you” as she joined her family. A few hours later, while travelling to her home in Dezful, she was re-arrested by the Iranian regime’s security forces.
Since then it has been difficult to find reliable and detailed information about Sepideh’s whereabouts and situation. According to most sources on March 19th Sepideh was transferred from Evin’s Ward 209 – run by the regime’s Intelligence Ministry – to the female political prisoners’ section. There is still no information available about Sepideh’s new trumped-up charges.
Sepideh Gholian is a student, social rights’ activists and journalist who has already served four years and seven months in various prisons of the Iranian regime.
Sepideh was arrested in November 18th 2018 while she was supporting and reporting on the strike of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane workers in Khuzestan. Since her illegal detention Sepideh Gholian has been beaten and tortured inside the Iranian regime’s dungeons. When she caught Covid, the prison authorities refused to release her and repeatedly ignored her family’s requests for a visit.
The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the re-arrest and continuing detention of Sepideh Gholian and calls for her immediate and unconditional release. We urge all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, political prisoners and social rights’ activists in Iran.
Free Sepideh Gholian now!
