Workers in all units and sections of the mill are currently on strike.
On Tuesday, November 15th, the workers of the Esfahan Steel Mill went on strike.
On November 16th, the workers gathered in front of the steel complex’s administrative building, where the CEO’s office is located. The plant’s managers and a representative from the regime’s Ministry of Labour met the workers. The Ministry representative promised to meet the workers’ demands, which include a pay rise, in the coming days.
The iconic Esfahan Steel Mill was the first major iron and steel complex in Iran, built in the 1960s as part of technical and economic co-operation deals between the Shah’s regime and the USSR. Its workers join the long list of workers who have gone on strike in solidarity with the mass movement triggered by the state killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini in September.
