Athina and Rüyam from NEDA -New Internationalist Left (Internationalist Standpoint in Cyprus), are discussing with Hasan Rahvancioglu, a Turkish Cypriot conscientious objector in northern Cyprus.
Hasan went on trial on November 26, and will be tried again on January 22, 2026. There is no law allowing conscientious objection in northern Cyprus, and Hasan is facing in each trial the possibility of being detained. However the support of the Initiative for the Conscientious Objectors in Cyprus forces the authorities to postpone the decision of the court, every time.
